Publication Ethics

The Journal of Multi-Disciplinary Engineering Technologies (JMDET), is committed to ensuring ethics in publication and quality of articles. The publication of an article in the peer-reviewed journal published by JMDET is process of permanent knowledge improvement. It directly reflects the quality of the work of the authors. JMDET supports the scientific method for publishing peer reviewed papers. This necessitates to agree upon standards of expected ethical behaviour for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editor, the peer reviewer and the publisher.

The journal ethic statements are based on COPE’s (https://publicationethics.org/), Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors. Few of the statements are listed as:

Authors: The authors should ensure that their work is entirely original, and if the work and/or words of others is used, then they have to ensure to appropriately acknowledge their work. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behaviour. Authors should take care of Plagiarism policy of the journal. Also submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behaviour and is not acceptable. Authors should maintain accurate records of data associated with their submitted manuscript, and if requested they should provide access to these data. Authors should guarantee that all data used in the article are real and authentic.

Editors: JMDET journal employs a peer review process. All contributions will be initially assessed by the editor. The editor is solely and independently responsible for selecting, processing, and deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal meet the editorial goals and could thus be published. Each paper considered suitable is sent to two independent peer reviewers who are experts in their field and able to assess the specific qualities of the work. Editors preserve anonymity of the reviewers. The editor is responsible for the final decision regarding whether or not the paper is accepted or rejected. When errors are found, editors promote publication of correction or retraction. Editors should make unbiased decisions independent from commercial consideration.

Publisher: Publisher monitors and safeguards publishing ethics, communicates journal policies, cultivates editorial independence, preserves the integrity of the academic record, safeguards intellectual property and copyrights, continuously improves the quality of the journal. Publisher respects discretion of all parties involved.

Reviewers: Peer review supports editors in making editorial decisions and their review comments assist authors in improving their manuscripts. Reviewer should show promptness if the reviewer feels unqualified for the topic of research and should notify the editors and excuse oneself from the review process. The received manuscript must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to, or discussed with others except as authorized by the editors. Reviews should be conducted accurately and precisely. Observations should be formulated clearly with supporting arguments. Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. A reviewer should also notify the editors of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other manuscript (published or unpublished) of which they have personal knowledge.

Authorship and contributor ship

JMDET recognizes authorship based on substantial contributions to the conception and design of the work; acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data; drafting or critically revising the manuscript; and approval of the final version for publication. All listed authors should have made meaningful contributions to the work and should take responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of their contributions.

A contributor ship statement is mandatory for all submitted manuscripts. Authors must clearly describe the specific contributions of each author, such as conceptualization, methodology, investigation, data analysis, writing, review and editing, supervision, or project administration. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that the contributor ship statement is accurate and approved by all authors.

Individuals who have contributed to the work but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be appropriately acknowledged. Any request to add, remove, or change authorship after submission must be supported by a clear justification and require the consent of all authors. JMDET may seek clarification from the authors and/or their affiliated institutions in case of authorship disputes or concerns regarding inappropriate authorship practices.

Change of Authorship

Any request to add, remove, or change the order of authors after manuscript submission must be made with the consent of all authors. Such requests should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief with a clear justification for the proposed change. The corresponding author is responsible for obtaining written consent from all existing and proposed authors and submitting the required authorship-change declaration. Changes in authorship after acceptance or publication will be considered only in exceptional circumstances and in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics policy. The journal reserves the right to request supporting documentation and to investigate any authorship dispute before approving the change.

Plagiarism and Research Misconduct

The journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and research ethics. All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism screening using appropriate similarity-detection tools. Authors are expected to submit only original work and to properly acknowledge and cite all sources, including their own previously published work. Manuscripts containing substantial plagiarism, duplicate publication, self-plagiarism, fabricated or falsified data, image manipulation, inappropriate citation practices, or other forms of research misconduct may be rejected at any stage of the publication process. If plagiarism or research misconduct is identified after publication, the journal reserves the right to issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction, as appropriate. Authors are solely responsible for ensuring the originality, accuracy, and ethical integrity of their submitted work. Any allegations of research misconduct will be investigated fairly and confidentially in accordance with established publication-ethics principles and applicable journal policies.

Conflict of Interest

The journal is committed to maintaining transparency, objectivity, and integrity throughout the publication process. All authors are required to disclose any financial, personal, professional, or institutional relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research, interpretation of results, or publication of the manuscript. Such conflicts may include employment, consultancy, funding, grants, honoraria, personal relationships, institutional affiliations, intellectual property interests, or other competing interests. Authors must provide a clear Conflict of Interest Declaration at the time of manuscript submission. If no conflict exists, authors should explicitly state that there are no conflicts of interest to declare. Editors, reviewers, and editorial board members must also disclose any potential conflicts that could affect their impartiality and should recuse themselves from the evaluation process where appropriate. Failure to disclose a relevant conflict of interest may constitute a breach of publication ethics and may result in appropriate editorial action, including correction, withdrawal, or retraction of the published article where warranted. The journal reserves the right to request additional information or clarification regarding any declared or suspected conflict of interest.

Declaration of Generative AI in Scientific Writing

Authors may use generative AI and AI-assisted tools to support manuscript preparation, provided that such use is conducted responsibly and under appropriate human oversight. Authors remain fully responsible and accountable for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and final content of their manuscript. Any substantive use of generative AI or AI-assisted tools in manuscript preparation, including assistance with drafting, restructuring, translation, or substantive language editing, should be disclosed in a declaration at the end of the manuscript, before the References.

The declaration should identify the AI tool used, its purpose, and the extent of its use. Authors must review and verify all AI-generated content and ensure that the manuscript reflects their own scientific analysis, interpretation, and contribution. Routine use of basic tools for spelling, grammar, punctuation, or formatting checks does not require disclosure. AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors. Where generative AI is used in the research process, such as data analysis, methodology, or generation or modification of research-related content, its use should be appropriately described in the relevant section of the manuscript.

Suggested Declaration

During the preparation of this manuscript, the authors used [NAME OF TOOL/SERVICE] for [PURPOSE]. The authors reviewed and edited the generated content as necessary and take full responsibility for the content of the published work.

Complaints and appeals

Journal of Multi Disciplinary Engineering Technologies is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics, editorial integrity, transparency, and fairness. The journal provides a clear and impartial mechanism for authors, reviewers, readers, and other stakeholders to raise complaints or appeal editorial decisions.

Complaints

JMDET welcomes complaints concerning editorial and peer-review processes, delays in manuscript handling, conflicts of interest, plagiarism, duplicate publication, research misconduct, authorship disputes, ethical concerns, or any matter that may affect the integrity and fairness of the publication process. Complaints should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief of JMDET with relevant details and supporting evidence, where applicable. All complaints will be treated seriously, impartially, and confidentially and will be addressed in accordance with the journal’s editorial policies and publication-ethics principles.

Ethical and Research-Integrity Complaints

JMDET takes allegations of plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabrication or falsification of data, authorship disputes, conflicts of interest, and other research-integrity concerns seriously. Such complaints will be reviewed in accordance with established publication-ethics principles and, where necessary, in consultation with the authors’ affiliated institutions or relevant authorities. Concerns regarding errors or ethical issues in published articles may result in appropriate corrective action, including an erratum, corrigendum, expression of concern, or retraction. All complaints will be handled impartially and confidentially, and individuals raising concerns in good faith will not face retaliation.

Appeals Against Editorial Decisions

Authors may appeal an editorial decision if they believe that:

• A significant error or misunderstanding occurred during the review process;
• Important information was overlooked;
• The decision was based on an inappropriate or demonstrably incorrect interpretation of the manuscript; or
• There is evidence of procedural irregularity or conflict of interest.

An appeal must be submitted within a reasonable period after receiving the editorial decision and should clearly explain the grounds for the appeal. General disagreement with the reviewers' opinions, without substantive justification, may not constitute sufficient grounds for an appeal.

Corrections and Article Retraction

JMDET is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the published scholarly record.

Corrections

Authors are expected to promptly notify the Editor if they identify a significant error or omission in a published article. After editorial assessment, a Correction/Erratum may be published when an error affects the accuracy or completeness of the article but does not invalidate its main findings or conclusions. The correction notice will be permanently linked to the original article.

Article Retraction

An article may be retracted when its findings or conclusions are found to be unreliable or when serious violations of publication ethics are established. Grounds for retraction may include fabrication or falsification of data, plagiarism, duplicate publication, major undisclosed conflicts of interest, serious authorship or ethical violations, or substantial errors that invalidate the findings or conclusions.

Retraction decisions are made by the Editor following appropriate assessment of the concerns and available evidence. A retraction notice will clearly identify the article and state the reason for retraction. The original article will remain part of the scholarly record and will be clearly identified as retracted, with the retraction notice permanently linked to it. JMDET follows established principles of publication ethics and scholarly publishing, including relevant COPE guidelines, in handling corrections and retractions.

Editorial Independence

JMDET is committed to maintaining editorial independence and academic integrity. Editorial decisions on the acceptance, revision, or rejection of manuscripts are based solely on scholarly merit, originality, scientific quality, relevance to the journal's scope, and the outcome of peer review. The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board are responsible for editorial decisions and exercise independent judgment in accordance with the journal's policies and publication ethics. Such decisions shall not be influenced by commercial, financial, institutional, personal, political, or other non-scholarly interests.

The journal's publisher and institutional owner may provide administrative and operational support but shall not interfere with decisions concerning individual manuscripts, peer reviewers, or published content. Editors and reviewers are expected to disclose and appropriately manage any conflicts of interest that could affect editorial judgment. Where an editor has a conflict of interest, the manuscript will be handled independently by another qualified editor. JMDET follows established principles of editorial independence and publication ethics, including relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
