This article examines the current status of low-noise amplifiers (LNAs) and their vital role in amplifying weak signals in various applications. The study also examines the various technological advancements made in the field of low-noise amplifier design circuits. In the past couple of decades, the design and optimization of CMOS LNA with the help of nature-inspired techniques has gained widespread attention. Various optimization methods, like evolutionary algorithms and swarm intelligence, have improved a device’s noise figure, power consumption, and gain. This work presents an overview of the different design techniques for LNA based on the cascode inductive source degeneration topology with the help of CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) technology. This work presents the recent developments in the design of LNAs optimized for operation in different frequency bands. The literature lists various design methods and techniques
for optimizing the LNA’s parameters through hybrid algorithms. It is often challenging to determine the most suitable approach for a specific situation.
